Mercer Wins DII Region 19 Baseball Championship
West Windsor, NJ - Mercer Baseball won the Region 19 Championship with three wins to capture the title on May 8th. MCCC opened the tournament with a 12-4 win over Raritan Valley. The Mustangs then beat Sussex 14-4 to advance to the Championship game in the double elimination tournament.
In the championship game Mercer beat Lackawanna 19-11. MCCC trailed 6-0 in the top of the second inning but battled back to tie the game after three innings. The game remained close until the bottom of the eighth inning when the Mustangs scored six runs to put the score at 19-11. Kevin Stewart hit a grand slam in the eighth which sealed the win for the Mustangs.
Jordan Raba was named the Region 19 Tournament MVP. Raba had an outstanding three games in the tournament going 10 for 15 with 10 RBIs and two home runs. In the Championship game, Raba went 5 for 6 with 5 RBIs in a 19-11 Championship win over Lackawanna.
