Outdoor Track & Field


Section A - DATE
  1. The district track meet will be held, annually the first or second weekend in May.
  2. Sites:  TBA.
  3. The Decathlon and Heptathlon must be held prior to the District Meet.


Section B - FACTORS TO BE CONSIDERED IN AWARDING MEET
  1. "All weather" track and runways.
  2. At least six (6) lanes. 8 lanes strongly recommended.
  3. At least six (6) flights of hurdles.
  4. All events can be conducted.
  5. Fully Automatic Timing system recommended.


Section C - OFFICIALS
  1. Certified officials must be employed by the host college as:
      a. referee, clerk of course, head starter, chief timer, chief finish judge.
      b. field judge for all field events as stated in the current NCAA Guide.
      c. Games Committee will consist of three (3) persons:
      • Meet Referee
      • Meet Director
      • District Coach not involved in the infraction


Section D - ELIGIBILITY
  1. Current NJCAA Eligibility rules will apply for all participants.


Section E - RULES AND SCORING
  1. The current NCAA Rule Guide for Track and Field will be in effect.
  2. Each college limited to three (3) persons per event.
  3. Each college limited to one (1) relay team per event.
  4. Events are.
    (1) 100M  (9) Discus (17) 4x800M Relay
    (2) 200M (10) Javelin (18) Triple Jump
    (3) 400M (11) High Jump (19) 10,000M Run
    (4) 800M (12) Long Jump (20) 3000M Steeplechase
    (5) 1500M (13) 100M HH (21) Decathlon
    (6) Mile Relay* (14) 110M HH (22) Heptathlon
    (7) 4x100M Relay (15) 5000M (23) Pole Vault
    (8) Shot Put (16) 400M IH (24) Hammer
    * or Metric equivalent    
  5. There must be three (3) entries in order to run events.  If the proper number of entries are received, the event will be conducted.
  6. A  scratch  meeting will be held each day at a time determined by the Meet Director.
  7. A runner not scratched must participate in all events in which he/she was entered.  If the athlete does not participate, they may no longer participate.
  8. If a relay team fails to participate, no penalty will be assessed to individual participants.


Section F - ENTRY FEES

A fee per college per division will be assessed along with a fee per entrant. The per entrant fee will be determined after all expenses are met.


Section G - AWARDS

Awards will be distributed for the first three (3) places in each event including relays.  Awards will be distributed to the first three (3) teams in each division.

  1. All Region certificates designated "First Team" and name of event will be awarded to all first place finishers.
  2. See respective region awards and operating code.


Section H - ORDER OF EVENTS - for a two-day meet:
  1. To be determined by host institution based upon availability of facilities.
  2. To be distributed by April 1st.

A Region XIX athlete in any contest involving a Region XIX college who is ejected for violent conduct or fighting shall not be allowed to participated in the next played contest as determined by the schedule of that institution.  If this ejection occurs in the last contest of a given season, the suspension shall be in effect the first regular game of the player's next season. In the event of any player/coach ejection, an ejection report must be filed with the Region Director.
